Our Basis of Faith is embodied in the following – we believe that these truths summarise the essential beliefs held by all true Christians, and whilst recognising there are differences of opinion on some issues we are united in fellowship with other believers on the Biblical essentials contained in our Basis of Faith.
There is one Almighty God the Creator of everything, expressed in the Trinity of the Godhead: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Who are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.
The absolute truth of the Holy Scriptures as originally given without error, as contained in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, their verbal inspiration by God and their supreme authority as the only rule of faith and practice.
3. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
The essential, absolute and eternal deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth; His real but sinless humanity; His voluntary humiliation and obedience culminating in His substitutionary and atoning death as a sacrifice for sin; His bodily resurrection from the dead on the third day; His ascension into heaven as the only Mediator between God and man; and His coming again in power and glory.
4. THE HOLY SPIRIT
The personality and deity of the Holy Spirit through Whom the soul is born again to repentance and saving faith and by Whom believers are sanctified by the truth.
Man’s total ruin through the fall and his salvation solely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, Whose righteousness imputed to him is the only ground of acceptance with God.
6. THE SECOND COMING
The resurrection of the body, the judgement of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the unbelievers.
7. THE CHURCH
The universal Church, the body of which Christ is the Head is expressed in a local church which consists of Christians committed to Him and each other, meeting together for worship, fellowship and the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.
8. THE ORDINANCES
The Lord’s Supper and Baptism are means instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ by which believers remember Him and identify with Him.
